In 1978, volunteers of the Frederick County Mental Health Association responded to this concern by launching Way Station in the hope and belief that by working together, the community could make a difference for its citizens with serious mental illness.

Way Station has received the generous support of corporate, governmental, and individual donors in developing real estate in downtown Frederick, Maryland. These buildings are used as state-of-the-art program sites for serving people and as training and education sites open to student interns, other service providers, and advocates throughout the United States.
