What Do We Do Now?

Three organizations helping families

Way Station provides education and support for families who have loved ones with mental illness, as does NAMI and Behavioral Health Partners of Sheppard Pratt.

Monthly Support Group

Way Station offers an ongoing monthly support group that is open to families and their loved one. This group is held on the 4th Tuesday of the month from 6:30-8:00pm in the dining room at Way Station’s building at 230 W. Patrick Street in  Frederick. All are welcome. For details if you wish to attend, please call Francy Williams, Family Liaison Coordinator, at 301-662-0099 ext. 1205.

 

Family-to-Family NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) provides many offerings. Information about NAMI’s programs can be accessed at www.namimd.org or www.namifcmd.org. A very helpful educational program is the 12 week free Family-to-Family class, which is taught by trained family members. In Frederick, these free 12 week trainings are offered by NAMI-Frederick in the fall and the spring. Contact: Mike Neely at 301-371-6784 to register for the fall class which starts on September 12th.

 

Family Psycho Education In Frederick, Behavioral Health Partners of Sheppard Pratt offers an Evidence Based Group Practice called Family Psycho Education which is a problem solving approach developed to assist families and their loved ones use positive communication skills while working together to build plans designed to solve problems identified by group participants.
